Albert "Butch" L. Ramsey Obituary

Albert L. Ramsey (Butch), 77 of Fostoria passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Good Shepherd Home surrounded by his family. Al was born May 12, 1943 in Fostoria to the late James T. Sr. and Bernice G. (Stevenson) Ramsey. Al graduated from Fostoria High School in 1962. He was a standout on the basketball court. Al joined Bethel Baptist Church at an early age, and recommitted his life to the Lord later in his life. Rev. Jerry Copeland, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, visited Al often. He retired from Atlas Crankshaft with 30 years of employment. He was an avid fisherman and loved all sports, but the Cleveland Browns were his favorite team. He married Agnes L. (Coker) Ramsey on August 16, 1963 and she survives. Also left to cherish his memory are his three children; Aloma B. (Jim) Ricker of Plymouth, MI; Angela M. (Henry) Matthews of Fostoria; and Allen P. (Jennifer) Ramsey of Findlay; six grandchildren, Anthony, Alec, Aric, and Aiden Ramsey and Henry R. Matthews and Amarie (Zendon) Griffin: sister, Rosalind (Roger) Dunbar of Fostoria; brothers, James T. Jr. (Carrie) Ramsey of Lima; Ronny J. (Elizabeth) Ramsey of Fostoria and sister-in-law, Karin Ramsey of Fostoria. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Minister Doris (Rev. Larry) Whatley of Atlanta, GA and Rev. Dr. Dona (Rev. Dr. Jerry) Howard of Houston, TX. Also mourning his passing are nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, all who lovingly called him “Uncle Butchie.” Al is preceded in death by his brother, Gerald R. Ramsey; brother-in-law, George Robert Tucker; sisters-in-law, Aloma Lee (Coker) Tucker and Mildred (Johnson) Ramsey. Al loved his wife and family beyond measure. His devotion to family was demonstrated in all he did to make sure they were happy and well-cared for at all times. He gave of himself wholeheartedly to ensure all of the family needs were met. Al had a sacrificial and generous spirit toward his family and others, always someone you could count on. Al had some very special recipes he would prepare for holidays and special occasions the family celebrated together. Family and friends will be received for visitation from 9-11 am on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline Street, Fostoria, OH. A Celebration of Life will begin immediately following visitation, Pastor Allen Minton of Dillion Road Baptist Church is the officiant. Burial will follow the service at the Fountain Cemetery. The funeral service will be live streamed on the Hoening Family Funeral Homes Facebook page. Due to Covid-19, masks are required and social distancing will be observed. Memorial donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, Dillion Road Baptist Church or Ohio Living Home Health and Hospice.
