Michael Joseph Campbell
Michael Joseph Campbell (1958-2020), son of Anna and Wilfred, birth-father of Morah, father of Jordan, Evan, and Daniel, grandfather of Nathan, Jacob, and Emilia, brother of Mo, uncle of Jessica and James, grand-uncle of Chance and Devon, died October 1, 2020. In Michael’s recent words, ” I have every blessing one could have,” Cremation was performed and a celebration of life is planned near water. No memory exists before my brother. I recall him as a toddler, standing in front of a local audience at an impromptu concert, singing acapella freestyle. I remember him on our parents’ bed happily plucking the strings of a toy guitar that was stashed in their closet from Santa Claus and a look of feigned surprise on his face at Christmas. Michael taught himself to play the guitar, a talent he shared with his sons. As a child, Michael loved to swim and snorkel in the sea and, in later years, perfected laps in a local pool. Michael liked mackerel once all bones were removed and passed inspection, He loved the colour green, nature, and the ocean. My brother, a sensitive, intelligent, strong, talented, and compassionate human being, with an immense sense of social justice, could build a bridge. A UCCB Engineering and Survey Technology graduate, Michael worked at J.A. Douglas McCurdy Airport, Wreck Cove Power Project, and Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal, the latter wrote, “Mike was conscientious, thorough, attentive to detail in his work, and kept meticulous records - a legacy of detailed information from his past reviews still referenced regularly”, For Michael _ “Mercy" Take me to the water, Let me swim to sea.
