David Paul Schultz, Sr. McHenry, Mississippi Obituary

David Paul Schultz, Sr.

David Paul Schultz, Sr., 64 of Gulfport, passed away early Saturday morning at St. Joseph Hospice in Gulfport. David was born January 31, 1956 in Lansing, MI, the son and 3rd of seven children to Rev. Harold Vincent & Dorothy JoAnne (Shumake) Schultz. He would grow up in Lansing and several other places between there and Gulfport, as his father served as pastor of several Independent Baptist churches through the yeas. David enjoyed the outdoors and among his favorite things to do were fishing, canoeing and playing football. He played on both the offensive and defensive lines at Ashford High School, graduating a member of the Class of 1974. Not long after graduating, David was married and started his family in Columbia, AL while working for the power plant there. He was always good with his hands and enjoyed building things, so he decided to get into carpentry. David quickly became a master carpenter, building many homes and businesses through his career. Of his most memorable projects is the "Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar", a popular spot on Printers Alley in Nashville, TN. David worked on it and it is still in operation today. He is remembered as a family man as you might imagine, growing up part of a family of seven. He and his siblings were "tight" through the years. David did have his struggles in life, but fought hard and overcame them. A loving son and brother, caring father and trusted friend, David will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who truly knew and loved him. Preceded by his parents, he leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Kim (Kerry) Knowlton of Mt. Juliet, TN, and three sons: David (Shasta) Schultz, Jr. of Lebanon, TN, Alan (Stephanie) Schultz of Hermitage, and Curtis Schultz of Nashville; his six siblings: sisters Debra (Brendan) Davidson of Gulfport, MS, Dawn (Don) Gaston of Mobile, AL, Diane (Jeff) Ethridge of Dothan, AL and DeeAnne Schultz (Rusty Bradley), also of Mobile, with his brothers Dennis (Karen) Schultz of Mt. Juliet and Dean Schultz of Gulfport. David leaves a legacy of nine grandchildren, numerous extended family and friends, and countless houses and building projects through the years. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Schultz family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them all in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
