Howard E. Carpenter of Wintersville, Ohio passed away October 21, 2020 at the age of 89.  Howard was born October 29, 1930 in Pottery Addition, Ohio to the late Chester and Effie Carpenter.  Howard proudly served his country in both the United State Navy Reserves and U.S.  Army with the 108th Field Artillery Battalion, during the Korean War. His was a member of the VFW Post 80, and American Legion post #557 and retired from the Indian Creek School District. Howard was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.  He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Geroch) Carpenter; daughter Christine (Sean) Exterovich of Steubenville, Step-Daughters Rebecca (Scott) Campbell of Wintersville, Susan Overheu of Germany, Cindy Hockenberry of California, four grandsons, two grand daughters, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial services with military honors will be held on what would have been his 90th Birthday October 29th, at 2 pm at Union Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Jason Elliott officiating. Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
