John R. Donovan

It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father, brother and friend, John R. Donovan, age 86, on Saturday, October 17, 2020.

Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Jack and Leona (Jarvis) Donovan.

John worked for many years in the public works department for the City of Halifax until his retirement.

He was often spotted driving through town in his truck with his dog by his side.

John is survived by his wife the former Loretta “Betty” (Jessome) Donovan; by his three children, Kevin, Keith and Leona; by his five grandchildren and his brother Pat Donovan.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by three brothers, David, Niles and Bernie.

At John’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney.
