Lloyd Anthony Evans Obituary

Lloyd Anthony "Tony" Evans was born on August 14, 1964 in Topeka, KS. He is the seventh child of Lloyd C. Evans and Mattie D. (Arterberry) Evans. He transitioned from this life on October 18, 2020.

Tony was a proud graduate of Topeka Public Schools and Topeka High School. His varied talents in technology, mixology, and culinary arts led to a wide variety of jobs and career pursuits. Tony retired from AT&T after twenty-four years of service. Prior to his time with AT&T he completed bartending school, a perfect compliment to his work in catering and professionally making sure everyone had the right libation for the mood and the moment.

A lifelong Raiders fanatic, Tony was the opposite of a fair weather fan; through seasons both good and bad and changes of venue and city, Tony could always be counted on to shout “Raiders for life!” Armed with a streak of brilliance, a penchant for pushing boundaries, and a mischievous sense of humor, he was always ready with sharp observations coupled with punchlines that were a mix of genuine honesty and a healthy sense of the ridiculous. Behind all of that though was a man who cared deeply and earnestly about family and friendship. His interest in politics and political arguments wasn’t about just winning a debate, but also expressing concern for the world we live in and the other people inhabiting it. His gifts behind the grill and bar became not only part of his legend, but also his way of holding friends and family close.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to cherish his memory three sisters, Linda E. Canady, Joyce M. Evans, and Valerie A. Evans, all of Topeka; four brothers, Larry C. Evans (Beatrice) of Phoenix, AZ, Ronald C. Evans (Brenda) of Tucson, AZ, Gregory A. Evans (Linda) of San Francisco, CA, and Christopher D. Evans (Holly) of Topeka; and one nephew promoted to the rank of brother, RaMan Evans of Topeka. Tony was formerly married to Barbara Evans. He will be warmly remembered by a host of uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

To all looking for comfort, no doubt Tony would say “L.A. out, see you in the sunshine!”
