Rosemary “Ro” Wik Cayea, currently at Meadow Lakes, formerly of Hamilton Square, NJ, passed peacefully on Friday, October 23, 2020, surrounded by family after a wonderful life of 75 years. Predeceased by her parents, Marjorie Rost Wik and Andrew Wik of Williamsville, NY; she is survived by Richard, her husband of 51 years; their daughter, Christiane of East Windsor; a sister, Judith Sparks of Centerville, OH; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. Ro received a BA in Education from Niagara University and an MA in Spanish Language from Columbia University. She taught Spanish at Niagara-Wheatfield High School, JFK-Willingboro High School and started the Spanish language program at St. Gregory the Great School. Her final Spanish teaching position was 21 years at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South. Ro served on many professional related committees, longest of which was Foreign Language Educators of New Jersey as Vice President for Membership. A dedicated quilter, after retirement Ro worked at Pennington Quilt Works where she assisted customers in designing their projects and teaching quilting classes, especially machine embroidery. An active parishioner of 47 years at St. Gregory the Great RC Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister, cantor and lector. An avid reader, she loved to travel, attend musical theater, and established a warm and welcoming home. She enjoyed mentoring others in all aspects of her life, including teaching, cantoring and quilting. Ro, loving and devoted wife, mother, aunt, mentor and friend will be dearly missed. The family commends and thanks the VITAS Healthcare team for their compassionate and personal care during this difficult time. A Memorial Gathering will take place on Wednesday, October, 28, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great RC Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park & Mausoleum, 840 Cranbury South River Rd, South Brunswick, NJ. Due to funeral restrictions, the staff of Saul Colonial Home, respectfully, requests that all funeral attendees please wear a face covering during the services for Ro.
