Karen L. Stark, 80, a longtime resident of the Hillsboro community, died Wednesday evening, October 21, 2020 at her home. Private Cremation Rites were held at the Hoyt Crematory in Forest Grove. KAREN LOUISE STARK was born October 3, 1940 in Bismarck, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Carey James Johnson and Mabel Ruth (Paul) Johnson. She was raised and received her education in the McMinnville community, having been a graduate of McMinnville High School Class of 1948. She was united in marriage to John H. Stark on June 7, 1974 in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Aloha. They celebrated their 46th Wedding Anniversary this past June. Following their marriage, they made their home in the Hillsboro community, where they have resided since. Karen had worked as a bookkeeper; as a waitress at the Portland Golf and Country Club; as a seamstress, making wedding dresses; caring for children at the Aloha Day Care Center and retail sales at Mervyn’s Department Store, until she retired. Among her special interests, she enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Karen also liked sewing, gardening and canning. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carey and Mabel Johnson. Survivors include her husband, John Stark, of the family home in Hillsboro, Oregon; their three sons and daughter, Larry Coleman, of Beaverton, Oregon; Robert “Rob” and LeAnne Coleman, of Hillsboro, Oregon and Ted and Maria Stark, of Wildomar, California; her daughter and Terri and Duane Brelsford of Pullman, Washington and her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Sheila Johnson, of Amity, Oregon. Also surviving are her five grandchildren and spouses, Jamie Coleman, of Hillsboro, Oregon, Alex and Kim Coleman, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Michael and Courtney Stark, of McKinney, Texas; Nicole and Travis Morscheck, of Beaverton, Oregon and Brandi Brelsford, of Big Sky, Montana; her four great-grandchildren, Landan, Casen and Jayden Morscheck and Charlotte Stark and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the Lung or Breast Cancer Foundation, in her memory.
