<p><strong>Rose James, 80, of Newton died on Sunday, October 18, 2020, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at the funeral home. Memorials to Teen Challenge of the Midlands or the Orchard Place may be left at the funeral home.</strong></p> <p><strong>Rose, the daughter of Kenneth and Fannie (Vance) Ruple was born on October 22, 1939 in Vilonia, Arkansas. As a young child, her family moved to Newton, Iowa. She graduated from Newton High School. Rose was united in marriage with Rodger James on November 16, 1957 in Newton. She worked at Wal-Mart and at the Jasper County Care Facility. Rose loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and with her dogs, Sasha and Sadie. </strong></p> <p><strong>Those left to honor Rose’s memory are two sons, Marty James of Las Vegas, Nevada and Shawn James (Joyce Prendergast) of Newton; grandchildren, Josh (Keri) Woodard, Austin James, and Emma James; her great-grandchildren, Rylee and Prestin; and siblings, Kenny (Ann) Ruple of Omaha, Nebraska and Vickie Needham of Urbandale. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rodger James; a daughter, Lorie Lynn James; son, Rusty James; grandson, Brandon James; a brother, Jim Ruple; and her dog, Molly. </strong></p>Obituary
