Noemi Solis Garcia

Noemí Solis Garcia, affectionately known as Mimí, age 93, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. Noemí was born in Matamoros, Mexico with United States citizenship through her father, Ricardo Solis. Noemí graduated from Brownsville High School in May 1945. She always encouraged her children and grandchildren to attend college as she herself tried various semesters in a Houston Community College when she was in her late 70’s. Noemí’s biggest joy in life was loving and watching over her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took tremendous joy in attending her grandchildren’s school programs, dance recitals, Baptisms, 1st Holy Communions, high school and college graduations, weddings, and many birthday parties. Her life revolved around her grandchildren and great grandchildren which kept her forever young at heart. One of the highlights of her life events was a big celebration of her 80th birthday in San Antonio hosted by her children in her honor. Noemí was preceded in death by her husband, Eduardo “Lalo” Garcia; her parents, Ricardo Solis and Francisca Trevino Solis; brothers, Ricardo, Arnoldo and Roberto Solis, sisters, Magdalena Solis and Lucila De La Garza. She is survived by her daughters, Maria “Pita” De La Garza (Raul), Maggie O’Leary, Dolores “Dee” Garcia and Laura Jarrett (Bruce); son, Edward Garcia (Peggy); sister, Esperanza Lopez (Raul), 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Services will be private for the family.
