Frank J. Koykar, 77, of Glen Ellyn, IL, formerly of Lombard, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 10th surrounded by his family. Son of the late August and the late Dorothy M. Koykar (nee Wachewicz). Devoted husband of 52 years to Mary L. (Stallsmith), father of Leanne (Tom) Sutter, Matthew (Mary Earl), Darlene, Mark, Mary Eileen (Andrew) Pierce, Luke, Jean (Adam) Jacobson, U.S. Army Major Francis (Lisa Barrone). Brother of Joseph Koykkar. Dear cousin to Keith (Kathy) Bane and Cynthia Bane. Grandfather to 13, great-grandfather to 3, uncle to many. Predeceased by his brother, Bruce Koykar and his sister, Barbara Lynn Christen Knight. Visitation is on Wednesday, October 14th at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St, Lombard, from 3:00p.m.to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 3:15 p.m. Funeral Mass for the repose of Frank’s soul is on Thursday, October 15th, with 9:00 am prayers from Brust Funeral Home to St. Pius X Church, 1025 E. Madison St, Lombard, for 10:00 a.m Mass. Due to the COVID-19 virus, a mask must be worn inside the funeral home and church. Interment services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to any of the following charities would be greatly appreciated: St. Pius X Church, 1025 E. Madison St., Lombard, IL 60148; Children's Diabetes Foundation, 4380 S. Syracuse St., Suite 430, Denver, CO 80237, or; AMITA Health Alexian Brothers Hospice, 2601 Navistar Drive, Building 4, Floor 1, Lisle, IL 60532. Frank attended Sacred Heart School (Class of 1957) and received his diploma from St. Francis High School in 1961. He graduated from Loras College in 1965 and earned his law degree from John Marshall Law School in 1972. Frank practiced law for nearly 38 years and served as an arbitrator in several cases. As an active volunteer in the Lombard community, Frank coached Lombard Little League Baseball; Was a founding member, legal representative for the Lombard Jaycees, including constructing the Halloween haunted houses and directing the 4th of July Lombard fireworks show for many years; Served on the District 44 School Board; Involved in Indian Guides and Princesses, and; Taught catechism at Sacred Heart and St. Pius X. Frank’s civic activities were fourth to what mattered most in his life: His Roman Catholic faith, a loving marriage and providing for a strong, God-centered, fun-filled family. Memories of family vacations are cherished, especially the many years at the cabin on Towanda Lake in northern Wisconsin. The Koykar family would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Richard Krouse and DuPage Medical Group, and to the staff at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Hinsdale Hospital and Alexian Brothers Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
