Arthur Joseph Abrams, affectionately known as Roy, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Jewish Nursing Home and Lifecare in New York City.
He grew up in Jamaica, West Indies and then moved to Harlem, NY to live with his maternal grandfather. He was then drafted into the United States Army, in his early twenties, serving during the Korean War and was given an Honorable Discharge. He was a well beloved man in the neighborhood of Hamilton Heights/Sugar Hill Manhattan. He was well known for his fancy salsa dance moves and being generous with friends and family alike. There was always an extra seat and an extra plate of food at his place and everyone was welcome at all times. He worked as a Television Repairman for RCA Phillips. He loved his job and met many interesting and famous clients who loved and respected him.
Arthur leaves to mourn and cherish fond memories: his sister, Shirley Harris; his son, Arturo; his daughter, Elena; his grandchildren, Roy and Lena; and his many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
