Funeral services for Jose Carmen Medina, 79, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Samuel Ameh officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Jose was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Jose Bartalomé and Petra Maria Medina and passed away on October 17, 2020 in Lubbock, TX. Jose came to the United States in his early twenties and worked all his life to provide a better life for himself and eventually a better one for his future family. He married Maria Cervantes on July 3, 1980 in Mexico. Jose was a contract worker in the oilfield for many years. He was a father of three and his passion was spending time with his family. He was a humble man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and telling his children the stories of his life. Preceding him in death were his parents. Surviving him is his wife Maria of the home; one son: Jose and wife Brenda Medina of Lovington; two daughters: Beatrice and husband Jose Luis Sanchez and Rosio and husband Jacobo Velazquez, both of Lovington; four brothers: Apolinar, Pilar and Leon Medina of Mexico and Fidencio Medina of Alanta, GA; one sister: Tana Reyes of Houston, TX and seven grandchildren.
