David W. Lawley

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, David Wilburne Lawley age 73, on Thursday October 15, 2020 at the Northside General Hospital.

Born in North Sydney, April 27, 1947, Dave was the son of the late Rachel (Collins) Smith and Dougal Currie and was raised by his adopted parents the late James and Mary (Bradbury) Lawley. Dave was employed with the accounting department of Sydney Steel Corporation.  Dave wore many hats in his life and had many accomplishments as an athlete, a coach of youth hockey and soccer, a businessman and a community builder. 

Dave is survived by his wife Josepha (Weatherbee) Lawley, sons Trevor and Darcy (Meghan) Lawley, Robbie Weatherbee, Blair Hickey, brother Roy (Viola) Smith, sister Mary (David) Musgrave, brothers Dougall Currie and Greg Currie, grandchildren Braxton, Declan, Sloane and Harlowe, special granddaughter Apryl Weatherbee and grandson Billy-Joe Weatherbee, great-grandchildren Amara Warhuus and Carter Weatherbee, also by his in-laws Bernice (Blaise) Vickers, Bill (Marguerite) Weatherbee and Edward Bonnar.

Besides his parents, Dave was predeceased by a brother Joey Smith.

A private family visitation was held. Cremation will take place. A celebration of life for Dave will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J.
