<p><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>It is with great sadness, we the family announce the passing of Shirley on October 18, 2020 at the Glace Bay General Hospital with her family at her side. She was a daughter of the late Alex and Priscilla Munroe of Reserve Mines and she spent her life living in Reserve Mines.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>Shirley graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1951 from the Glace Bay General Hospital, where she worked as a nurse for many years. She later on worked with the VON until her retirement. She was an active member of the Reserve Mines Seniors and Pensioners Club where she cherished her friends from darts and cards.She was also a member of Gordon United Church in Reserve Mines until it&rsquo;s closing. She was loved by everyone who knew her.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>Shirley is survived by her son Rev Allan (Nancy) MacLellan; her daughter Debra Lynn (Morley) Kennedy; grandchildren Shauna, Carla, Jarrett, Alana, Suzanne, Heidi and James; great grandchildren Alyssa, Jacob, Silas, Blake and Sadie; as well as brother John (Sheila) Munroe and sister Dorothy (Fred) Miles.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Stu; brothers Gerald (Mary) and Roy (Ruby) Munroe.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>Shirley&rsquo;s passing leaves a huge hole in each of our hearts, and will be forever remembered and cherished by her family and friends.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>We would like to thank Cape Breton County Homemakers, who&rsquo;s assistance allowed her to stay in her own home. Also Thank you to the nurses and staff of 3 East of the Glace Bay General Hospital.</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>Cremation has taken place under the direction of Forest Haven where a private family committal will be held.
