CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI – Betty Joyce Thompson passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. The daughter of Herman and Anna (Zintman) Gentz, Betty was raised in Skandia and attended the Skandia area schools. A homemaker, she enjoyed deer and rabbit hunting, fishing brook trout, and feeding the deer and any animals that frequented her yard. Betty is survived by her husband, James Thompson, whom she married October 22, 1966; and a nephew, Charles Steven (Linda) Gentz of Franklin, WI. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. Honoring her request, private family services will be held at a later date.
