Gary G. McFarland, age 69, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel. Pastor Steve Anderson will officiate. The service will be Live-Streamed on our website.

 

Visitation will be at our chapel on Thursday, prior to the service, starting at 2:00 p.m.

 

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenny McFarland, Gale McFarland, Tyler McFarland, Taylor McFarland, Kyle McFarland and Will Exline.

 

Gary was born on June 13, 1951, to Harold and Doris (Poppen) McFarland, in Estelline, SD. He was a graduate of Estelline High School. On August 24, 1973, Gary was united in marriage to Shirley “Pickles” McMillan in Watertown. He was employed at Esco for many years. Some of his favorite hobbies were antique cars, gardening and hunting. Gary loved painting and drawing.

 

Gary is survived by his wife, Shirley of Watertown, SD; his children, Kenny McFarland of Watertown, SD, Shiloh (Will) Exline of Sioux Falls, SD, and Gale (Tiffany) McFarland of Rochester, MN; his grandchildren, Tyler (Tara), Taylor, Kyle, Katie, Justin, Kristen, Kylie and Sidney; his great-grandchildren, Allyson, Claire, Nora and Roxanne; his sisters, Sherry (Dean) Buetow of Watertown, SD, and Bonita (Billy) Graham of McAlester, OK; his sister-in-law, Judy McFarland; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Doris McFarland; his brother, Tom; his grandson, Jordan McFarland; his grandparents, Esther and John Poppen and Anna Marie and William McFarland; and his aunt Helen (Irvin) McFarland.
