Grand Coteau– A Mass of Christian Burial for Eric Joseph Lavergne will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.

Mr. Lavergne, age 89, a resident of Sunset, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Mr. Lavergne served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He is survived by his companion, Mary Menard of Sunset; sons, Michael Lavergne and wife, Connie of Sunset, Steven Lavergne and wife. Roxanne of Sunset; daughters, Connie Ortego and husband, Ronald of Opelousas, Pamela Marks and husband, Dale of Opelousas, Karen Meche and husband, Joel of Leonville; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by his wife; Theresa Lavergne; parents, Clement and Mercedes Lavergne; brothers, Raymond Lavergne, Edward Lavergne, Anthony Lavergne; and sisters, Virginia Aubin, Faye Lavergne and Theresa Lavergne.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
