Elias “Eli” G. Otdoerfer, 38, of Coralville, died on Thursday, October 8 at his home in Coralville. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to a charity of your choice. Eli was born on September 29, 1982 in Iowa City, IA, the son of Floyd and Patricia (Bias) Otdoerfer. He was a 2001 graduate of Iowa City West High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University. He was a world traveler and studied in Ireland, Portugal, and Korea. Eli enjoyed sailing in the ocean and found work at resorts and charters in St. Maarten, Anguilla, Guadeloupe and California. In 2014, he assisted in the water recovery of one of SpaceX’s Falcon Space Capsules. He was a firm believer in the importance of the conservation of natural resources and environmental awareness. Eli is survived by his parents Floyd and Patricia Otdoerfer; his sister Amy and numerous extended family and friends.
