Mary Beth "Berge" Bergeron Royal Oak, Michigan Obituary

Mary Beth "Berge" Bergeron

Mary Beth Bergeron passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Oct. 13, 2020, at age 64. She is survived by her husband, Victor Banister, her siblings, Jeffrey, Patricia and Shannon Bergeron and a multitude of friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara J. Bergeron (Erickson) and her father, Dr. Donald D. Bergeron. Berge (as she was known to almost everyone) had a smile that could light up a room and a heart of gold. Her joy of life and laughter was contagious. She was an inclusive and deeply compassionate individual. She made friends easily and remained loyal to her friends and family through thick and thin, often going the extra mile to ensure that the people she loved had the love and support they needed in times of difficulty. Berge loved to golf and she hit a “hole in one” when she met Victor Banister, also an avid golfer. After dating for several years, Berge and Victor married in February, 2020. Her untimely death cut short the joy of their union but those closest to Berge know that the last few months of her life were also the happiest months of her life. Berge was a Michigander through and through. She attended St. Hugo of the Hills elementary and middle school, Marian High School and Western Michigan University. She was employed at GreenPath Financial Wellness, where she counseled others on debt management. A Celebration of Life honoring Mary Beth will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Orchard Lake Country Club. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, if you are interested in attending, please RSVP to Tricia Bergeron 901-277-6868. Purple “reigned” in Berge’s life, so join us in wearing violet, lavender, eggplant or some variation of purple on Tuesday. After supporting her brother-in-law through a double-lung transplant in 2013, Berge became an ardent advocate for organ donation. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Gift of Life Foundation, Michigan, a 501(c) charitable organization that supports and facilitates organ and tissue donation and transplantation. You can give online at giftoflifefoundationmi.org/contribute-now or by mailing a check to Gift of Life Foundation, 3861 Research Park Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48108. You can also register to be an organ or tissue donor on their website.
