Funeral services for Roy Gainey, Jr., age 81 of Jefferson, SC, will be held at 4:00 o’clock p.m., Friday, May 26th, 2017, in the sanctuary of Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Kershaw, SC. Rev. George Brasington will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Gainey passed away, Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017, at Kershaw Health, Camden, SC. Born in Kershaw County, he was the only child of the late Roy, Sr. and Dorothy Barrett Gainey. He retired from The South Carolina Public Service Commission as a Lieutenant. He enjoyed playing the guitar, caring for his pets, entertaining people and making people happy. He also was a member of Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church and served in the South Carolina State Guard. Surviving are his wife of 11 years, Dorothy Ray Terry Gainey of Jefferson, SC; 3 sons, Vernon Gainey and his wife Elaine of Jefferson, SC, Gordon E. Gainey and his wife Elise of Camden, SC, Roy Faron Gainey and his wife Cyndie of Nashville, TN; 2 step-daughters, Geanne Taylor Payne and her husband George of Kershaw, SC, Annette Taylor Johnson and her husband Joey of Lancaster, SC; 17 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends, Thursday, May 25, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt.
