Fred Durward Morgan Obituary

Morgan, Fred Durward, age 96, of Bellbrook, passed away from COVID-19 on Wednesday, October 14th, 2020 at Kettering Medical Center. He was born November 6th, 1923 to Maude (Hornsby) and Monroe Morgan, one of six children. Fred earned undergraduate degrees from Purdue University, Indian Teacher's College, Anderson University, and Ball State Teacher's College, and his doctorate from Ohio State University. He worked and retired as a Professor for Huntington College, Indiana, and Warren Southern College in Lake Wales, Florida. Fred was so dedicated to his students and education that he volunteered his last year with no compensation. Previously, he was also a pastor in Marion, Ohio where he was instrumental in building the church, both physically and spiritually. Fred loved fishing and has many fishing stories to prove it, but most of all he was a fisher of men who loved leading people to salvation in his Lord Jesus Christ. He also loved volunteering for the Gideons and raising money for them from tomatoes and other vegetables he raised in his garden. Fred enjoyed hunting, his family and church family, and studying birds and butterflies. Fred could rattle off the name and origin of most birds, no matter how prominent or rare. He was preceded in death by his first wife Rita; sisters Eunice, Savannah, and Leah, and brothers Frank and Jim. Fred is survived by his wife Linda, three sons Dale (Marilyn) Morgan of Piqua, Bob (Mary) Morgan of Bellbrook, and Sam (Cindy) Morgan of Wilmington, nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. There will be a virtual life celebration visitation on Wednesday October 21st from 10:00 am-12:00 noon at Moraine City First Church of God, 5867 N. Springboro Pike, Dayton. A life celebration funeral will be held immediately following at noon with burial to follow at Beechwood Cemetery in Piqua. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to one of Fred's favorite ministries, Hand to the Plow Ministries, 16221 Rawls Rd., Sarasota, FL 34240-9147 (www.plow.org/donate).
