Vera Faye Morgan Obituary

Vera Faye Morgan, 82, of Crossett, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the Stonegate Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on July 26, 1938, to her parents, Arvey and Alta Firestone Hughes.  She lived in Ashley County for most of her life, was a 1956 graduate of Hamburg High School, and a member of South Main Baptist Church.

For over thirty years, Vera worked for Ashley Memorial Hospital in various capacities, including as a nurse’s aide and switchboard operator.  Crafting was among her many gifts, including crocheting, but her real passion was sewing.  She could make just about anything commonly, even without a pattern.  She often sewed for the public continuing even into her golden years.  She was also a fabulous cook and cherished any holidays when she could get her entire family together around the table.

Vera had immense love for her family as well as for each and every neighborhood kid who considered her their second mama, but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Nathan Glen Morgan, one brother, James Hughes, and her sister-in-law, June Hughes.

She is survived by two sons, Barry Morgan and wife, Julie, and Steven Morgan and wife, Kristi, all of Crossett; seven grandchildren, Whitney Farmer (Andy) of Hamburg, AJ Morgan (Hannah) of Sterlington, LA, Benji Morgan (Kaitlyn) of Crossett, Casey Morgan of Memphis, TN, Sydney Morgan of Little Rock, Adam Kelley of Grand Bay, AL, and Austin Kelley of Crossett; along with eight great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 17, at Crossroads Cemetery with Bro. Lyle Hern and Bro. Bruce Culp officiating.  Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair for comfort and social distancing.  Honorary pallbearers are AJ Morgan, Benji Morgan, Adam Kelley, Austin Kelley, Andy Farmer, and Bill Morris.

Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 17, prior to the service at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett.
