Margaret R. Leach Wignall, 87, of Ottumwa, died at 7:40 p.m. October 13, 2020 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. She was born July 2, 1933 in Albia to Edward and Clara Smith Leach. Margaret married William Lyle “Bill” Wignall on October 20, 1951 and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2020. Growing up in Albia, she was a 1971 graduate of Indian Hills Community College Nursing School. For a short time she worked in Med-Surg at Ottumwa Regional Health Center and as a unit secretary in the mental health ward. First and foremost her primary job and joy was taking care of her family including her father and in-laws. Margaret adored animals and she and her husband enjoyed traveling and remodeling their home. Surviving are her daughters, Nancy Jo McDonald of Golden, CO, Stephanie Le (Terry) Wignall Kelly of Olathe, KS and Beth Ann (Michael) Colwell of Des Moines; 4 grandchildren, Matthew William McDonald, Kathleen Margaret Kluko, Morgan Kelly and Rowen Wignall; 3 great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by son-in-law, James McDonald; siblings, Robert “Les” Thomas, Charles “Jack” Thomas, Norene Lee and Edward Leach. Limited open visitation will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday October 20th at Reece Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, which is Margaret and Bill’s wedding anniversary.
