Fred was born on January 2, 1941, to Herman and Amelia (Frei) Weidner. He grew up and attended school in Halliday. He served two years, which included an 18-month tour in Germany.

From 1964 to 1978, Fred again worked various construction jobs.  From 1978 to 2009, Fred worked as the bulk gas and propane deliverer for both Mobil and Sunrise Oil.  After retiring in 2009, Fred (always the busy body) went back to work for Dunn County as a heavy equipment operator.  He retired from Dunn County in August 2020.

Fred was active member of the Sunshine Club and could always willing to help out where needed. Fred liked working in his shop, mowing lawns, driving his blade, working on his vehicles and fishing with his family.  He loved visiting with people and was an easy person to talk to. He would often strike up conversations with strangers. Fred would help anyone he could. He had a big heart, great sense of humor and was knowledgeable of so many things.

Fred is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughters, Sheri (Mat) Berogan, Trina (Gary) Lundquist, and Jamie (Brad) Hawk; six grandsons, Cole, Chance, Lane, Deondre, Aiden, and Tayvian; his step-son, Matthew (Samantha); one sister, Bonnie (Vern) Frederick; and one brother, Alvin (Donna) Weidner.
