Herbert Allen Francis
Herbert A. “Allen” Francis, age 65, of Newark, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020 at Licking Memorial Hospital to be with the Lord. He was born August 12, 1955 in Newark, Ohio to the late Tommy and Pat (Courson) Francis. Allen was a very funny outgoing man who loved people and was admired even more by those he met. He had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed music, collecting comic books, and playing golf. Allen once received the John Philip Sousa Award. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his only grandson, Jeffrey. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judy E. (Kuninger) Francis, whom he married on May 11, 1985; a son, Michael R. (Sara) Slebodnik; sister, Lisa (Skip) Bennett; grandson, Jeffrey Slebodnik; two nieces Nicole (Michael) Miller, Emily (Kaleb) Vermilion, very good friend, Dave Crawford; and special pet dog, Minnie. A memorial service for Allen will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Allen’s name to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association, 1699 West Mound Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223. The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark, is assisting the Francis family with arrangements.Obituary
