Robert McLaren Dunn

Robert McLaren Dunn 1943 – 2020 It is with great sadness that the family of Robert (Bob) McLaren Dunn announce his passing on Oct 6, 2020. Robert was born in Toronto, Ontario and lived there with his parents and siblings until the age of 6 when his family moved to Vancouver. He spent much of his teen and early adulthood in various parts of Vancouver. His high school years were at Vancouver Tech. Knowledge was very important to Bob - he pursued areas of study that were of interest to him, including a History degree from Simon Fraser University. Robert had a multi faceted career life. For a time he was part owner/operator for Yellow Cabs in Vancouver; he started his Real Estate and Strata Property Manager career in Vancouver, and moved to Abbotsford in 1982 where he continued this line of work until he became ill in 2018 and decided it would serve him well to retire from Real Estate. His career also included teaching Real Estate Courses - Bob was often an instructor for Adult Continuing Education in Abbotsford. Thrown into that mix, he was an excellent handy man and wood worker that could fix or build anything. He was active in service at multiple churches through his life. In 2010 Bob met his partner Patricia and was welcomed into her family. They had a fun-filled life together until the end. In August of 2018 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer which had already metastasized to the bones. He faced this illness with dignity and courage. His death leaves a huge hole in the hearts and lives of those he loved and who loved him: his partner Patricia; son Robert; step-daughters Danielle (Mark) and Alie (Phil); 4 grandchildren: Silas, Caden, Gwen, and Jane; mother Bertha and brother Patrick; in-laws, nieces and nephews, and friends. He is predeceased by his father Robert Dunn and younger brother John Dunn. In the future a private celebration of his life will be held by the family. Donations may be made to Canuck Place Children's Hospice or to the BC Cancer Agency.
