It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Mary Hilda MacKinnon, 95, on October 12th, 2020 at the New Waterford hospital. Born in New Waterford on December 28, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Christine Poirier. Hilda was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. Hilda married her husband John MacKinnon in 1948 and together they raised a family of five. She loved to sing (in French ), dance, and was always the life of a party. In her younger years she loved to line dance, and on many occasions did so at many events around the community. She always looked forward to visits from her grand children and great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed her daily trips to Plummer Avenue where she shared a joke or two with everyone she met. She is survived by her children Cyril (Patsy), John Robert, Paula (Binky) Baldwin, Margaret Ann (Wayne), all of New Waterford, Charles (Anna), Sydney; grandchildren David, Alicia, Julie-Ann, Nicole, Angela and Spencer; great grandchildren Lauren, Noah, Dean , Nate, Jorden, Isla, Amelia, Meegen, Warren and Rory; her sister Alice (Joe) Muise of New Waterford, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John MacKinnon; sisters Katie, May, Effie, Jeanette, Anna, and Julia; brothers Eddie, Wilfred, Edger and Ernest; great grandchild Brynn MacKinnon. Thanks to the Doctors and staff of the New Waterford hospital, 2nd floor, for the excellent care that our mother received in her final days. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place and a private Funeral Mass will take place in the Parish of Saint Leonard with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
