Vivian Baker Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Vivian Baker

Vivian was born on January 5, 1931 at the Wadena Union Hospital, the oldest daughter of Elmer and Helen Helberg. Vivian grew up in Wadena and went to the Old Brick School after High School. She worked at Red and White and also went to the sewing College in Saskatoon. In 1956 she married Roy Baker and had two sons; Kirt and Stuart Baker. She lived in SPR Station houses with Roy for many years, going from town to town; Glenside, Drake, Milestone, Leroy, and Yorkton. Raising two young sons, she remembered those years fondly. In 1975 they moved back to Wadena to build a house. Roy died shortly after moving back. Vivian went back to work shortly after Roy's passing, working at Prairie Family Centre and later The Bargain Shop.

Even years after her retirement, she was still remembered by many for the years she was working in the stores. In 2000 she was blessed with a grandson and she loved being a grandma. She spent many hours babysitting and she loved every minute of it. She liked to sew and knit, many a new baby in the family would get a hand-knit sweater from Vivian.

After she retired she volunteered for the Wheeler as a dispatcher for the van and also delivered meals on wheels for many years. She was a very active member of the exercise group. Vivian was always ready to bake for a charity and help in any way she could. It is a great loss for our family, but we take comfort in knowing she is with the angels now. She will always be in our hearts and be forever missed.

A private graveside service was held.
