Harold Jordan O'Neal

Harold Jordan O'Neal, 90, Peru, passed away at 2:10 pm on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Aperion Care in Peru. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Saturday, July 26, 1930, to James and Laura (Ford) O'Neal. He was married to Nanette Deboer for 12 years. Harold served his country in the United States Army from 1949 to 1963 and then in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1990, at which time he retired. He served during the Korean Conflict, receiving the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Champion Star, Air Force Longevity Ribbon, Air Force Organization Excellence Award, Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, and NCO Education Graduate Ribbon. Harold had achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Following his military service, Harold worked on the farm, raising cattle and horses. He enjoyed watching Andy Griffith, Gunsmoke, McGyver, Walker Texas Ranger, Star Trek, and Bonanza. He also liked listening to the Christian Broadcasting Network. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time fishing with his son. Survivors include his son, Jordan O'Neal of Tucson, AZ; daughters, Jessica (Mathew) Corn of Elwood and Jennifer (James) McQuinn of Rochester; granddaughter, Aubree; and grandsons, Gracin, Xander, Emercin, and Kalvin. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive visitors from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Harold's life will begin at 12:30 pm. Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery.
