Harold Preston Riley

DURHAM: Harold Preston Riley, 74, has gone home to be with the Lord and his Angel. He passed away May 23rd, 2017. Harold was born in Durham, to his late parents, Olivus and Bessie Riley, on August 19, 1942. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Mary Lou Riley; brothers, Bernice, Bobby and James Riley and his sister Judy Fisher. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. His passion was his wife. And that led the way to the love and admiration he had for all those who surrounded them both with love and joy. With hearts full of love, we send Papa home to be with Nana. He is survived by his children, Sarah Brenneman, Carol and Jeff Baker, Ben Burgess, Terri Burgess, and Melissa and T.C. Blalock. There are ten grandchildren and nine great-children who called him Papa and will always remember his laugh, his good heart, and his love for their Nana. Harold is also survived by his brothers Charles Riley and Kenny Riley and wife Barbara. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 26th at Clements Funeral Home in Durham. There will be a memorial service held 11 a.m., Saturday, May 27th at Clements Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rod Chaney officiating. Graveside services will follow at Little River Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions can be made to Sunrise Church, 1315 New Hope Trace, Chapel Hill, NC 27516.
