Leroy Michael Bennett "ROY" 61 of Topeka, Kansas was born March 2,1959 and gained his wings on October 9, 2020.

Leroy attended Topeka Public Schools. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He also was a member of Jordan Patterson Post 319 in Topeka and worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for several years.

In 1976, Leroy enlisted in the United States Army and received honorable discharge in 1979. In 2001 he joined the Kansas Army National Guard as an Assistant Recruiter. Leroy was the first African American Recruiter in the state of Kansas.

Leroy loved music. His favorite hobbies were drawing, fishing and playing dominoes. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. Leroy loved cooking and always enjoyed feeding the folks in his neighborhood.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents John Bennett and Charlene Jackson. Also by his siblings Dewayne Bennett, Lonnie Bennett, Linda Bennett, Ronnie Bennett, and Jackie McDonald.

Leroy leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter Alvanise Wilkins (Phoenix, AZ).

Siblings Angela Dortch, Bridgett Spears (David), Keith Bennett (Hyon), Bernard Bennett (Shanna) all of Topeka, KS. Cynthia Williams (Charlotte, NC). William Bennett (Atchison, KS), Ricky Bennett (Minneapolis, MN), John Bennett (Houston, TX), Rena' Bennett (Ft. Worth, TX), Mary Bennett (Cheyenne, WY), Danny Bennett (Senthan) Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Honarable mention of his only surviving Aunt, Bessie Oliver (Montgomery, AL) and special friend Fay Beaver (Topeka, KS).

Memorial Celebration will be held at Crestview Shelter House on October 23, 2020 at 1:00 pm.
