BILLIE SHORTRIDGE, 72 years of age of the Poplar Creek section of Grundy, VA, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at his home following an extended illness. Born in Rowe, VA, he was the son of the late Willie and Bertha (Street) Shortridge. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church #2 where he served as deacon since 1984. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a retired Coal Miner. Bill enjoyed going camping and loved going to church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Stiltner Shortridge (1967); 1-Brother: Verlin Shortridge; 3-Half-Sisters: Gladys Street, Keister Ratliff and Hassie Street; Half-Brothers: Clyde Shortridge, Clarence Shortridge and C.W. Shortridge. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Connie Lee (Clevinger) Shortridge of Grundy, VA; Children: Donita (Brian) Allen of Grundy, VA, Christina Shortridge (Chad Charles) of Grundy, VA; Grandchildren: Justin (Kristen) Allen, Mekisha (Richard) Farmer, Haley Lester (Trey Deel) and Jadyn Lester; Great-Grandchildren: Carmen Farmer and Tyson Allen, with Carson Farmer on the way; 4-Sisters: Wanda Deel, Vivian Gross, Wilma Vandyke and Pauline Wilson; 1-Brother: Ferrel Shortridge; Half-Brother: Guy Shortridge; Half Sister: Lillian Stiltner. Also, survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Monday and Tuesday evenings at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services for BILLIE SHORTRIDGE will be conducted Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Toy Looney, Roger Coleman, Larry Puckett, Jerry Overstreet, Mark Justus, Robert Osborne, Jeff Owens and James Tackett (New Salem and Union Association) officiating with burial to follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA. Active Pallbearers will be His Nephews and Mike Coleman, Tim Clevinger, Ivan Dales, Dennis Harrison, Donnie Harrison, Edger Baker and Richard Blankenship. Honorary Pallbearers will be Justin Allen, Brian Allen, Tyson Allen, Larry Bostic, Jimmy Clevinger, Zack Coleman, Brody Coleman, Richard Farmer and Chad Charles.
