Richard Wayne “Big Hippy” Pointer, 71, life-long resident of Weatherford, passed away early on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, in Fort Worth. Visitation: 3 until 5 pm, Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Committal Service: 3pm, Monday, October 12, at East Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford. Richard was born on June 26, 1949 in Weatherford to Lawrence and Annie Pointer. He married Debra June LaRue. Richard was a truck driver by profession. He enjoyed tractors and watching his favorite western – “Gunsmoke.” He will be affectionately remembered for his “Big Heart” and for his love of making others happy. Richard “never met a stranger.” Richard is survived by brother, David Leroy Pointer; his son, Darrell Pointer and Rhonda of Weatherford and son, Tracey Howell and Kelly of Springtown; grandchildren, Kacey, Crystal, Tracey, Jr., Michael, and Brandon Wayne; and by his 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah June in 2014.
