Ed Varjassy Swift Current, Saskatchewan Obituary

Ed Varjassy

<p>It is with great sadness that the family of Edward Andrew Varjassy announces his passing on October 7, 2020 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Eddy passed away peacefully with his family by his side in the early hours of the morning. Eddy will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 33 years Lois, and 3 children Craig, Bryn (Sim) and Jensen, his mother Irene Varjassy, his four Brothers Bob (Deb), Fred (Wanda), Don (Sheila), and Gerry (Helen) Varjassy, his Mother-in-law Helen Larson, and Sister in-law Lee (Dave) Harley along with many nieces, nephews and extended family and countless dear friends. Eddy was born in Kipling Saskatchewan on February 6, 1964 to Kal and Irene Varjassy. He grew up on the farm in Kipling before attending the University of Regina, where he played on the Cougars Volleyball team and graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degree. He later completed his Masters of Education Degree from the University of Alberta. Eddy had a 32 year career in education. He began as a teacher in Lemberg Saskatchewan, before moving to teach at Kipling in the Prairie Valley School Division. He then moved to Swift Current in 2006 where he was the Curriculum Coordinator for the Chinook School Division. Eddy will be missed by the education world in Southwest Saskatchewan as he made friends with many of his colleagues. Eddy was a much loved father, brother, son, uncle and lifelong friend. Anyone who knew Eddy could tell you about his kind heart, sense of humour, outgoing personality and he was always willing to lend a helping hand when asked. Eddy loved to hang out with family and friends to share a laugh, play and watch sports, puzzles, games and cards, and enjoyed cooking and testing new delicious foods. He was also a proud gardener, and jack of all trades who would build or fix anything. He loved to travel and always wanted to experience and learn new things about the world. His best trips were with his family. He especially loved baseball! Playing, watching and coaching when his kids were younger. His love for his family was his passion. He dedicated his life to helping them achieve their goals and dreams and he loved spending time together. He will be forever missed. A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Warren&#39;s Funeral Home with Reverend Annette Taylor officiating. In Ed&#39;s memory, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, 200-4545 Parliament Ave., Regina, Sk.
