Alma Jo Douglas Obituary

Alma Jo McLeod Douglas, 92, of Leakesville, passed away at Ocean Springs Hospital on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. She was born and raised in Greene County and had a love for the history of her home, serving in the Greene County Museum and helping to organize reunions for Leakesville High School. Mrs. Alma was one of the first members of the Ladies’ Variety Club. She enjoyed cooking and was passionate about quilting. She was a faithful member of the Leakesville United Methodist Church. More than anything else she loved her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gwen Edwin “Joe” Douglas; son, Edwin McLeod “Mac” Douglas; parents, Peter Joseph and Marion Ellsworth Avera McLeod; sisters, Ella Graham, Marjorie Daughdrill, Inez Ware, Morie Huelsman, Edna Randall, and Ann “Dix” Clark Head; brothers, Carl McLeod and Marvin “Dimp” McLeod.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Larry Douglas (Linda), Bob Douglas (Becky), Cheryl Douglas, Stacy Joe Douglas; daughter-in-law, Cecilia Douglas; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Private Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2020. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Leakesville United Methodist Church.  Online condolences may be given at www.freemaleakesville.com.
