We the family regret to announce the passing of our loving wife, mom, grandmother, sister, sister in law and friend, Mary “Billie” Stubbard, AKA “Billie Buy’O”, surrounded by her family on Oct 6th, 2020 at the age of 74 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. She is survived by her husband Erville (Stubbard), her five children, Fabian (Nancy), Maurina (Charles), Billy (Yori), Erville (Neila) & Sharon Ann. She is also survived by her dearly beloved grandchildren, Blair, Joelena, Larissa, David, Andy, Maurice, Jessica, Miranda, Joshua, David, Joey, Jared, 9 great grandchildren (Number 10 on the way), her sister, Kaye Ford, brother, David Steele, many, many nieces and nephews and special son in law, David Corbett. Mary “Billie” was predeceased by her parents ,Michael and Christina (Brown) Steele, sisters Norma, Gertie, Veronica, Ann, brothers, Michael and Dougie along with many, many other family members very dear to her heart. Mom was loved and well respected within her community and known by many for her cooking and baking- You could always count on her for a delicious tray of sweets. Her passion was her family, the love she gave us all was one of a kind. Her hugs and sweet I love you’s were endless. The delicious family gathering meals and echoes of laughter were something we could always count on. Over the years she’s worked various jobs but the job she held closest to her heart was working as a personal care worker. The care and compassion she had for clients never went unnoticed. Many years ago she was a member of the ladies auxiliary in the RMVFD as well as a member of the St. Joseph’s church choir. We would also like to send a special thanks to the ICU staff at the Sydney Regional Hospital for going above and beyond their job duties in this difficult time. She will be deeply missed by the love of her life and best friend as well as her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family members and friends. “Good byes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end. Good byes simply mean we will miss you until we meet again”. “ Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11th, 2020 from 2-4, 7- 9 pm followed by a funeral mass on Monday at 10 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines. Interment in the parish cemetery. Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating.
