Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM CDT on Thursday, October 8 at Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah.

Janet was born north of Beulah on March 28, 1940 to Herman and Elizabeth (Wolf) Boeckel. She was raised and educated in that area. Janet married Melvin Morast on November 18, 1956 at Immanuel Baptist Church, Beulah. She was baptized and confirmed, later in life, into the Lutheran faith on July 8, 1960. Her confirmation verse was “Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand” Isaiah 41:10.

Janet and Melvin farmed north of Zap until 1963, at which time they moved to Bismarck. Janet worked several jobs in the restaurant industry. In 1978, Janet and Melvin moved back to Beulah where Janet worked various restaurant and housekeeping jobs. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and a member of VFW Post 7759.

Janet enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, quilting, crocheting (she made more afghans than we can count!) and attending Beulah Miners sporting events.

Janet is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Wanda Morast of Beulah; her daughter and son-in-law, Velvet and Steve Beck of Lewiston, MN; her daughter-in-law, Nora Morast of Bismarck; her son-in-law, Bob Mohl of Beulah; 12 grandchildren, DJ (Hannah), Brittney (Kyle), Nagoshia (Cody), Mary Jo (Matt), Corey (Donna), Brian (Rachel), Keith (Alisha), Jeremy (Emily), Jason, Chris (Tasha), Mike (Dessy) and Colton; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gaylen (Carol) Boeckel and Gary (Cleo) Boeckel; three sisters, Irene Fischer, Fern (Melvin) Schlender and Fay Horn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Melvin; one son, Dennis; one daughter, Melissa (Missy) Mohl; her parents; one brother, Leonard; three sisters, Ruth Hausauer, Leona Rueb and Marjean Boeckel; and her mother and father-in-law, Ursus and Julianna Morast.
