James A. Brown Obituary

BROWN, James Austin, age 80, of Kettering, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020. James was born November 2, 1939 in Willard, OH to Harley and Elizabeth (Austin) Brown. He graduated from Attica High School, and Bowling Green State University where he later earned his MBA. James served as an officer in the United States Army including a tour in Germany. He worked in finance, consulting, and later as a sales manager at Frigidaire before entrepreneurial pursuits. James was a member of the Optimist Club and served on the Board of Education for the Kettering City School District. He enjoyed traveling with his beloved late wife of 26 years, Sally (Roush) as they explored the world hunting for elephant souvenirs when they were not scuba diving. James also loved his German Shepherds, and was a great storyteller, and he was a Mason. James was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Elizabeth (Austin); wife, Sally (Roush); sister, Patricia Sanford. He is survived by his loving family; nieces, Deborah Sanford and Elizabeth Licursi; sister-in-law, Jean Wolfe; brother-in-law, John Roush; and numerous great nephews and nieces. A graveside service will take place Thursday, October 8 at 10:00am at Miami Valley Memorial Garden, 1639 East Lytle Five Points Rd., Centerville, OH. Calling hours will be Wednesday, October 7 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 81 NORTH MAIN STREET, CENTERVILLE, OH 45459. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, 460 West 10th Avenue, Columbus Ohio 43210.
