Deaconess Lenora J. Taylor Obituary

Deaconess Lenora Johnson Taylor was born on September 29, 1927 to the late Clarence and Virginia Johnson. She was the last of eight children. The Lord granted her angel’s wings on October 3, 2020, after fighting a good fight. She is now resting with her Heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Winfred Taylor, and son; Robert W. Taylor. Lenora gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a dedicated member at Bethlehem Baptist Church and served on several ministries and as a Deaconess until her health began to fail. She was a good servant for the Lord. She graduation from Maggie L. Walker in 1946, and continued her education at J. L. loving Jr. School of Practical Tailoring in Dress Making in 1947. Lenora served as the matriarch of the family. She loved family gatherings, dominos, crossword puzzles, traveling, shopping and would read the ink off the newspaper. She drove her car until the age of ninety, that’s when she decided to stop driving. She had no problem speaking her mind and was very precise in the art of sewing. Lenora meet and married the love of her life Charles Winfred Taylor on February 6, 1954. They celebrated fifty-six years of marital bliss. From this union they had one son; Robert W. Taylor. She leaves to cherish her memory two granddaughters; Tanecia Bookard (Peter, Sr.) and Tracie Taylor. Five great- grandsons; Lamar Bookard, Peter Bookard, Jr., MarQuis Bookard, Torey Bookard and Valen Taylor and eleven great-great grandchildren. Two brothers-in-law; Thomas Taylor (Gloria) and Raymond Pickett (Terry) and three sisters-in-law; Jeanette, Joyce and Brenda. A host of nieces; Bernetta Washington (Stanley), Rachel Johnson, Loretta Garvin, Barbara Jackson, Carolyn Johnson, Deborah Johnson, Joyce Wade, Bernetta Johnson and Sheila Andrews; one nephew Herbert Johnson and great nieces and great nephews; among them two devoted nieces, Sheila Andrews and Carolyn Johnson.
