Aaron Bryant Franklin Obituary

Aaron Bryant Franklin was born on December 26, 1954 to the union of Ernest Franklin and Mildred Williams Franklin in New Orleans, LA. His brother E. Dwight Franklin welcomed him, then came two more brothers, Kenneth G. Franklin, Kevin L. Franklin and their only sister, Melissa S. Franklin. Based on many memories and stories shared by his late grandparents, parents and Uncle, Felix Johnson, Jr., Aaron was a busy little boy who was nicknamed “Rock”, because he was tough as nails and very strong-willed. Even in adulthood he had that same personality until the end.  Aaron was educated in the Orleans Parish School System and was a proud member of the Booker T. Washington Senior High School Class of 1972.  After graduating high school, Aaron enlisted in the United States Navy as both an active and reserve member until he retired in 1991. Aaron was employed at the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers until he transferred to the U.S. Postal Service where he retired in 2009.  Aaron absolutely loved and was enormously proud of his four children, Keywanna (Walter), Dana (Jarron), Daron (Verlene) and Elise (Benjamin).  His eyes were never big enough to see his eight grandchildren, Hadiyah, Indya, Jarron, II, Zaria, Myles, Madison, Bria, and Brielle. He also loved horseback riding, trail rides, attending rodeos and taking care of his four-legged children, his horses Bubba and Scout!! He was a member of the Wild West Wranglers riding club and in his prime enjoyed riding his horses during the Mardi Gras parades. He was our Ole Cowboy!!He was an assistant coach of the Milne Raiders football team when his son, Daron was a football player on their little league team.  He was also a member of the American Legion post 502 based in Baton Rouge, LA. Aaron also enjoyed getting together with his Navy buddies for an occasional lunch. He leaves to cherish his memories, four children, eight grandchildren, his brothers, his Uncle, his Godmother Fannie Williams, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, two godsons, his longtime friend, Carolyn LeBeauf and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly.Aaron was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Mildred Franklin and his only sister Melissa Franklin. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 AM-12:00 Noon on Thursday, October 8 at Professional Funeral Services, 1449 N. Claiborne, Ave., New Orleans, LA 70116.  Interment will be at the Louisiana National Cemetery Complex 303 W. Mt. Pleasant Zachary Road, Zachary, LA 70791.
