Douglas D. Pollex, 66, resident of Stonefort, unexpectedly passed away Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Harrisburg Medical Center. This outgoing, life loving, caring man has left a permanent mark etched on so many hearts and he will be supremely missed by his wife and best friend of 44 years Deborah (Ritchie) and his beloved children Jacob and Sarah (Denny). Family was the pivotal essence of Doug’s life. He was so proud to be the father and grandfather of a loving, close-knit family. He was a major presence in the lives of his children and his grandchildren; Caden and Riley. “Dad” and then “PawPawP” was never too busy to build forts, pretend play, sing silly songs, or build a train out of empty boxes. Douglas was born May 7, 1954 in Fort Campbell, KY to Donald Pollex and June (Haberstock) Pollex. Douglas is survived by his wife: Deborah Pollex, his mother: June Pollex of Mendota, a daughter: Sarah (Dennis) Owen of Harrisburg, a son: Jacob Pollex of Carbondale, a brother: Donald Pollex of Malden, a sister: Gale (Jay) Carriedo of Plano, two grandchildren: Caden and Riley and several nieces and nephews.  After college Doug worked with the US Forest Service. He then went on to work in surveying and engineering and was working as a Senior Project Manager for Shawnee Professional Services. Doug was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion. He was the first to volunteer for whatever needed to be done. Doug loved the outdoors. Hiking, camping, canoeing, and sitting around a campfire were such joys in his life. He also loved being with youth. He was involved with Boy Scouts for years, coached baseball and helped lead a youth group in the Carrier Mills United Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church of Marion. He was a person who loved to laugh, and his joking and teasing was very much loved (and will be remembered) by those who knew him. Doug was an encourager, a helper and above all an image of God’s unconditional love.  In accordance with his wishes, Douglas will be cremated and there will be no public services at this time due to the COVID pandemic.  Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family via the website www.colonialterracefuneralhome.com
