Guadalupe Garza, Jr.

Guadalupe Garza, Jr., 54, of San Benito, Texas, passed away on October 2, 2020. Guadalupe was born on April 10, 1966 to Rosa and Guadalupe Garza in San Benito, Texas.

After graduating from San Benito High School in 1985, he went on to obtain his certification as an automotive technician in 1987 and worked at Joe’s Auto Care for several years. There he met his partner of 26 years, Olga Maldonado in 1994. He raised her children like his own and loved them dearly.

Guadalupe went on to become a security K-9 officer for the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District where he worked for 23 years. He truly loved his career and dedicated his life to protecting the students and staff of SBCISD.

Guadalupe enjoyed karate, country dancing, listening to country music, fishing, deer hunting, and hunting with his hound dogs.  He was a black belt in karate and participated in many competitions.

Guadalupe was preceded in death by his stepson, Joe Niño.

He is survived by his parents, Rosa D. Garza and Guadalupe C. Garza; brother, Omar Garza; sister, Herminia Garcia; his partner, Olga Maldonado; stepchildren, Jessica Treviño, Johanna Niño, and John Niño; thirteen nieces and nephews, and many cousins.

The Garza family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, October 5, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home.  A prayer service will begin at 7 o’clock Monday evening.  (Click the link below to view the prayer service via live-stream.)

Graveside service and interment will be Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
