Douglas Kenneth Adkins

Mr. Douglas Kenneth Adkins, age 80, of Grayson, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. He was born March 24, 1940, a son of the late Everett and Laura Scott Adkins. Douglas was of the Nazarene faith and he worked for the Ashland Daily Independent, where he enjoyed running his paper route. Douglas loved family gatherings, making sure there was always a meal prepared for everyone. He enjoyed watching his grandsons play football and in his spare time working in his garage. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Adkins, David Adkins, Ronald Adkins and four sisters, Pat Holbrook, Betty Brown, Frances Brown and Dottie Horner. Douglas is survived by his wife of 34 years, Esther Mariah Lucas Adkins; two sons, Jamie Adkins (Kelly) and Darren Adkins all of Columbus, Ohio; three daughters, Kim Adkins and Michelle Adkins, both of Columbus, Ohio, and Santanna Bentley of Grayson, Kentucky; one step-daughter, Renita Ciccone Bentley of South Point, Ohio; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Donald Adkins of Ashland, Kentucky; and one special niece, whom Douglas thought of as his own daughter, Anita Scott of Michigan. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020, at the Brown-Burton Cemetery in Argillite, Kentucky. Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Grayson, Kentucky caring for all arrangements for Mr. Douglas Kenneth Adkins.
