Gary Douglas Crotty

Gary Douglas Crotty, 78, went to be with the Lord on October 1, 2020, after a long battle of cancer. He was born on March 6, 1942 in Matoaka, West Virginia to the late Loren Clyde Crotty and Gertrude Davis Crotty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother, Russell. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Woolfolk Crotty; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Crotty-Robinson and Jerry DeWayne Robinson, Jr.; three grandsons, Nicholas Alexander, Zachary Christian and Cameron-Camden Carson Robinson, all of Northern Virginia. Other survivors are his younger brother and wife, Clayton Dwight and Brenda Crotty; sister-in-law, Jane Crotty Bailey, sister-in-law and husband, Sondra and Ricky LaBrie, sister-in-law, Louise Woolfolk, brother-in-law, Richard Hudson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Gary was a graduate of Matoaka High School and Nashville Automotive Diesel College. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from DunMar Moving Systems after 30 years of service. He had been a member of Clover Hill Baptist Church since May 1970. He served as a Sunday School teacher, usher and deacon. Additionally, he served on the school board for Richmond Christian School. After retirement, he worked at Clover Hill Baptist Church as the Facilities Manager. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Clover Hill Baptist Church, 3100 Courthouse Road, N. Chesterfield, VA, with the Rev. Mark Crockett officiating. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM at Clover Hill Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Women’s Missionary Fellowship (WMF) of Clover Hill Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the Clover Hill Baptist Church family, our friends, family, and his healthcare service providers at Bon Secours Cancer Center for their care and support during his lengthy illness.
