Dolores Faye Sullivan Obituary

Cumberland—Dolores Faye Sullivan, 90, of Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at the Allegany Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Cumberland, MD, on January 28, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Rizer and Thelma (Robinette) Rizer Hinkle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lawrence Sullivan; brothers, Clarence “Butch” Rizer, and infant brother, Bobby Rizer. Dolores was a graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1948. Following high school, she was employed at Liberty Trust Bank as a bank teller until she became a wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed tole painting. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Mountains Parish. Dolores is survived by her children, who loved and adored her, Pat Sullivan and wife Jo Lynn, Terrence “Terry” Sullivan and wife Shelley, Kim Abe and husband Ted, and Brian Sullivan and fiancée Wanda Davidson; grandchildren, Brendan Sullivan, Sarah Miller and husband Matt, and Ian Sullivan and wife Lindsay; great-grandchildren, Julian, Claire, Judah, and Fiona Miller; and sister-in-law, Janice Rizer. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Saturday, October 3, 2020, from 4-6 p.m. Funeral services will immediately follow visitation at the funeral home at 6 p.m. Burial will be in the Maryland State Veteran’s Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
