Helen Louise Boitel Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Monday, September 28, 2020, at Wellspring Hospice and Assisted Living. Age 103 years. Helen Louise Appel was born April 5, 1917 in Saginaw, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Radewahn) Appel. She married Earl E. Robinson, June 22, 1946. He predeceased her in 1996. Later she married Harvey Boitel in 2002. He passed away in 2012. Helen was a graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1936, and Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Home Economics in 1940. She taught Home Making in the Pigeon Schools for 6 years and at Saginaw High School for 9 years. Helen was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Second and Federal Sts. and the El Conquistador Country Club in Bradenton, Florida. She had been a resident of Bradenton, Florida for several years, returning to Saginaw in the summers. She enjoyed all sports, especially the Detroit Tigers and playing cards. Surviving are five nieces and nephews: John and Becky Best of Las Vegas, NV, Tom and Susan Best of Spokane, WA, Sarah (Best) and Norman Williams of Spring Lake, MI, Richard Best of Walkerville, MI, and Barbara (Best) Collier of Wenatchee, WA, and close friends, the Borchard Family. She is predeceased by her sister, Gretchen (Appel) Best of Midland, MI. In accordance with Helen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
