Obituary

Jackie (Jack) Lee Good, 65, of Indianapolis, IN (formerly of Westville, IL), crossed his last finish line at 3:02 P.M. on Monday, September 28th, 2020, at IU West Hospital in Avon, IN.  Jack suffered a medical episode which resulted in an accident on his golf cart at Lucas Oil Raceway Park where he was drag racing on his birthday.

Jack was born in Williamsport, IN, on September 26, 1955, the son of Jack and Peggy (Townsend) Good.  They preceded him in death.

Jack is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marcia (Falconio) Good whom he married on May 5th, 1973, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westville, IL.  He is also survived by his son, Jackie (Jack) Lee Good, Jr. (Adri and Serenity Stinchcomb) and his beloved dogs Chewy and Fluffy.  His sisters include Debra Biava of Westville, Tammy Hancock of Longwood, FL, Trina (Hancock) Hill of Westville, Penny (Mike) Mattingly, and Pam (Senator Ron) Alting and a brother, Ralph Williams.  His nephews include Brian (Elaine) Brenner, Brady Brenner, Justin Poynter, Michael (Kim) Grider, and TJ Hancock.  His nieces include Jessica (Bobby) Ahlstedt, Jessica Biava, and great-niece, Emily Grider.  He is also survived by his Uncle Richard Townsend, Aunt Lois Boswell, and many more loving cousins and their children.  Jack will be sorely missed by his second family, the Falconios.  Jack had hundreds of great friends across the country, including lifelong friends, Russel (Penny) Nelk, Monte, Ellen, Jake, and Brody Howard, Dean Davies, Mike (Beth) Offutt, Royce Wolfe, and “adopted sons” Steve Cravens, John and Joe Burke, and Matt Rakausky.  Jack had many more special people in his life who were considered part of his extended family.  Due to this sudden and devastating loss, we deeply apologize if we have left anyone out.

Jack was preceded in death by his grandparents and brothers, Randy Good and Tracy Hancock.  He was also preceded in death by his Aunt Roxy Brown, nephew, Jason Shapuras, and many beloved uncles, aunts, and cousins, especially Jacqueline Powell.

Jack attended Westville schools and DACC.  He was a proud member of NHRA and The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers for 40 years, retiring in 2005.  He was a Mason and Shriner and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  His greatest joys in life were his family, drag racing, and his Harley which took him back and forth across the country meeting so many great friends along the way.  He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.  He had many more things he wanted to accomplish in his life, and we are sorry to say that he will not get that chance.

The family requests no flowers and would rather donations be made in Jack’s name to CARA located at 609 E. 5th Street in Tilton, IL, or your favorite animal rescue.  Donations can also be made to his favorite doctor, Dr. Anne Greist, to benefit the Indiana Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center at 8326 Naab Road in Indianapolis, IN 46260.

Visitation for Jack will be at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883 on Saturday, October 3, from 2-6 P.M.  Roger Wolfe will be handling the arrangements.  Jack’s final wish was that he be cremated and ashes spread at his favorite destinations in life: Lucas Oil Raceway Park in Indianapolis, IN, Daytona Beach, FL, and Sturgis, SD.

A celebration of his life will be held at 6:30 P.M. at Julee’s Shooting Star in Westville, IL, with food being served.  If you would like to bring a dish, it would be greatly appreciated, and we ask that you drop it off as early as Friday but no later than 5:30 P.M. on Saturday at Julee’s.  Please join his family in sharing memories, photos, & videos through his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
