Travis Wayne Abel, 45, of Newton died on Monday, September 28, 2020, at his home. No services are scheduled at this time. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the cremation.

Travis, the son of Tom and Vicki (Boettcher) Abel, was born on September 6, 1975 in Newton.  He attended Newton schools and enjoyed BMX racing growing up.  His nickname was “Brake Cable Abel”.  Travis also liked fishing, riding bicycles, and cheering on the San Francisco 49’s and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.  

Travis is survived by his parents, Tom Abel (Angie Plumb) of Newton and Vicki Heller (Sonny Cupples) of Newton; two step-brothers, Ryan Plumb and Michael Plumb; and Jordan Long, whom Travis loved like his own son.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alfred and Mary Lou Abel; maternal grandparents, Richard and Armyllis Boettcher; and a step-brother, Jeremie Heller.
