Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert “Bob” Allan Parker, of Grand Bay-Westfield, on September 28, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  He was born in Saint John on March 4, 1935, to the late Perley and Mary (Creamer) Parker and was the loving husband of 58 years  to his wife, Edith (MacDonald) Parker.

Bob worked as a carpenter at various companies throughout the years all over the Saint John area and throughout the province.  He would very often say, “Measure twice, cut once” and made a point of sharing that with everyone.  He was an animal lover, especially to his late Sheltie, Pal and his little girl, Pixie.  Bob thought a lot before he spoke and his words generally held a lot of meaning.  In the last year, Bob has made many new friends at Church of St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home, where his smile brightened up any room.   He liked to socialize and tell stories and always had a treat to hand out to others.  He was very much a family-oriented person, who loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his loving wife, Edith, he is survived by his daughters, Christina (David) Snyder, Sheila (Neil Hoag) Parker, Donna (Derrick Berry), Kimberly (Paul) Durling and Michelle (Darren Sears); five adored grandchildren, Crystal, Matthew, Amy, Tyler and Kimberly; step grandchildren, Tiffany, Mallory, Russell, Farrah and Leon;  several great grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Helen) and Anthony (Valerie), sister, Betty (Jack), sister-in-law, Sadie DeLong; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, George (Valerie) and Brian.

Bob’s family would like to take the opportunity to thank the staff of Church of St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home for the care and compassion they showed to him during his time there.  Your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten.

Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will take place on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8pm.    A funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 10am with interment to follow in St. Augustine’s Cemetery.   With regard to COVID regulations,  Bob’s family require that all of those attending both the visitation and the funeral service wear a mask to protect those in their family.  Extended family and friends are invited to watch the service online here at https://www.oneroomstreaming.com/view/authorise.php?k=160147989179149.  For those who wish, memorial donations in his memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Alzheimer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciate by his family.
